Francois Hollande intends to make Segolene Royal President of the National Assembly, despite their bitter separation. He was with Miss Royal, herself a leading Socialist for 30 years. The pair still have personal differences, and Ms Royal does not get on with Hollande's current girlfriend, the journalist Valerie Trieweiler, who is 11 years her junior.
