The power of prayers and positive confessions: Didier Drogba

With owner Roman Abramovich and the entire squad looking on, Drogba criticised the silver trophy for eluding his clutches for so long.
And he ended his amazing 15-minute performance by bowing down to the cup and offering a prayer of thanks.
Chairman Bruce Buck said: “The trophy was on a table in the middle of the dressing room. Didier was dancing on the table and praying to the cup. It was a religious experience.
“He talked about Barcelona in 2009 and Moscow and the other times we’d come close. All the boys gathered around to watch him. It was a lot of fun.”
With the entire squad joining in, Drogba demanded to know why the trophy had been flirting with him for so long yet had always avoided him.
He went into a chronology of all the club’s near misses in the Champions League and then recalled every match in this season’s competition right through to Saturday’s final against Bayern Munich.
His speech was frequently interrupted by his team-mates chanting, “We want you to stay”, after what could still prove to be the final game of his eight-year Chelsea career.
